Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ Will Be A Comedy

As it was announced a few weeks ago, Shahid Kapoor will next be seen in Shree Narayan Singh’s directorial ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’. Shree has previously directed the successful film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role. The movie did phenomenally well at the Box Office and went on to become one of the most successful films of the year 2017. Now, the director is all set for his second movie with Shahid Kapoor, who is actually a good choice for him. Earlier, it was reported that the movie will be a drama but now Shree has revealed that it will be a comedy, he stated that he is writing the script right now and will explore some comedy space in the script. Talking about the movie, he said that it will be based on a particular incident. Shahid liked the title of the movie ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, he liked the comic approach in the title just like Shree’s first movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. Well, the female lead of the movie has not been announced as of yet but names like Katrina Kaif and Shraddha Kapoor are doing rounds for the movie, Now, we have already seen Shahid and Shraddha in 2014 movie ‘Haider’ and it was good, but we haven’t seen Shahid with Katrina as of yet and that would be interesting. Shahid is getting ready for his upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’, which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it also stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the lead role, it is speculated to be one of the biggest movies of the year, let’s see what we get. ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ will release in August 2018.
