Big Development: Sooryavanshi and 83 To Release Theatrically First

Amid the current coronavirus pandemic outbreak, many movies have shifted their release schedules from theatres to the digital streaming services. Recently, the digital OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar revealed a list of 7 movies that have been chosen for a digital release. It is speculated that theatres and cinema halls would not start functioning anytime soon following which people have resorted to the digital streaming services for their entertainment purposes. While many movies are seeking a digital premiere, Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh's 83 have decided to not go along with the trend. According to the latest schedule, Sooryavanshi is speculated to release on the occasion of Diwali, 2020 while 83 is scheduled to release on Christmas, 2020.

The upcoming action film, Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar in the prominent role has stuck to a theatrical release. The movie was initially scheduled to release on 24 March, 2020 but the date got postponed following the COVID-19 pandemic. On the other hand, Ranveer Singh starrer sports drama movie, 83 has also skipped a digital release and is all set to release theatrically. Initially, 83 was set to release on 10 April, 2020 however, the release date got postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The release of both Sooryavanshi and 83 in theatres first has been referred to as a 'Biggg Development' by film critic, Taran Adarsh who shared the news on his official Twitter handle. Following the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, public places including theatres and cinemas continue to remain closed due to which the release dates of both movies have been postponed even further. Action film Sooryavanshi is directed by Rohit Shetty and features Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff and others. Sports film 83 on the other hand is directed by Kabir Khan and features Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Boman Irani, Amrita Puri, Pankaj Tripathi and other actors.
