Ranveer Singh Reveals That He Took Time To Say Yes To ‘Padmavati’

Ranveer Singh is getting ready for his upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’, where he plays the antagonist Alauddin Khilji. The trailer of the movie was released last month and it went on to become one of the most watched trailers of Bollywood, the anticipation for this film is high and it is going to be one of the biggest releases of this year. It also stars Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead role. Ranveer in a recent interview said that he is very nervous to see himself as Alauddin Khilji in the movie. “When Sanjay sir came with the script to me, I was like, there’s no way I can do this, I got an advice from a senior actor and to whom I consider as one of the greatest actors that to be careful while choosing the roles and Indian audience is very native, if they love your character they will love you, so my concern was if they’ll hate my character, will they hate me!”, he said. He also revealed that it was a risky move for him, “my character is the anti-hero and it’s not likable at all. But the major reason why I said yes is the script, it’s an incredible story and it’s a challenge for me”. Talking about his collaborations with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer Singh said that without SLB he wouldn’t be as big as he is today, he gave him two of his biggest films ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ramleela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and now with ‘Padmavati’, it looks like Ranveer is again going to give a Super Hit with SLB. When the trailer of ‘Padmavati’ arrived, the thing which attracted the most was Ranveer’s attitude, his look as Alauddin Khilji is one of the best things of the movie. Deepika will be seen as Rani Padmini, while Shahid will portray the role of Raja Ratan Singh in the movie.
