'Rangeela' sequel not happening, states Ram Gopal Varma

Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma validated on Wednesday that he is not intending to make a sequel to his 1995 blockbuster movie, Rangeela. At the trailer launch of his upcoming movie 'Sarkar 3', when he was asked about 'Rangeela 2', RGV said, 'No that is not genuine. The movie that starred Bollywood stars like Urmila Matondkar, Jackie Shroff, and Aamir Khan, became a materialistic victory and also garnered critical praise. With the movie, Urmila became an overnight sensation and it was also recognized as a transforming point in Aamir's career. Recently, there was a consideration that RGV has ideas to make a sequel to the superhit movie. RGV's forthcoming movie 'Sarkar 3' is the third episode of the 'Sarkar' franchise and the trailer of the movie has earned a positive response. Discussing the movie which has 'Amitabh Bachchan' reprising the role of strong leader Subhash Nagre, who is addressed as 'Sarkar' in the movie, the moviemaker said, 'A character takes up the law because he considers that he is doing it for the downtrodden people though it is illegal in the sights of the system. He added further 'But in the hearts of the audience, it is the ethical thing because they connect with the sentiment that's why 'Sarkar' becomes extra powerful as a leader.' 'Sarkar 3' is full of grizzled characters. There is no such star or celebrity or a brute as such. All of them strongly hold in their own beliefs,’ The movie also superstars like Manoj Bajpayee, Amit Sadh, Jackie Shroff and Yami Gautam as well. Varma is back with the third installment of his successful offense drama franchise 'Sarkar 3' emphasizing megastar Amitabh Bachchan again. When questioned if he worries any trouble from the CBFC, he said, 'No not at all. He doesn't think 'Sarkar 3' has any substance which should provoke Pahlaj Nihalani. 'CBFC' have some sort of regulations. In fact, they have a purpose to believe that this movie could be based on a true life character, so just as a safety measure they need to get a disclaimer, nothing exceeding that,' Varma said. 'Sarkar 3', which also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Rohini Hattangadi, Jackie Shroff, Supriya Pathak, and Ronit Roy, which is cataloged to be release on April 7.
