National Award Doesn’t Guarantee Anything In Bollywood Says Rajkummar Rao

Rajkummar Rao, who has won a National Award for his performance in the movie ‘Shahid’, is finally getting the recognition in the mainstream Bollywood movies; he is one of the very few actors who has won National Award in their early career. ‘Shshid’ was released in 2013, while Rajkummar’s debut was in 2010 film ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’, in just three years he grabbed the National Award for best performance in a lead role. Since then, he has done many impressive films like ‘Citylights’, ‘Queen’, ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’, ‘Aligarh’, ‘Trapped’ and the list goes on, he is without a doubt one of the finest actors in Bollywood working today, and this year has proven to be a blast for him, he appeared in five movies till now and impressed everyone in all the five movies. Also, the news of his ‘Newton’ going for the Oscars next year gave him the mainstream attention. In a recent interview, the actor said that the National Award gave him the push which he needed and he did get some good opportunities after that but he also stated that a National Award doesn’t guarantee anything, especially in films. “I never thought that I would get an award, I was just here to do my work and it is still surreal for me”, he said. “I won’t deny that after winning the National Award people start noticing me, and the number of scripts I am reading now is much more than the number of scripts I read back then, so yeah things have changed. But it all depends on you, how you handle yourself”, he said. Rajkummar will next be seen with Kriti Kharbanda in ‘Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana’, which will release on 10th November 2017.
