‘Hindi Medium’ Picks Up Pace At The Box Office

The Indian Box Office has been going through an exciting phase. The movies with fresh subjects are picking up pace whereas the Love Stories that once ruled on the box office are trailing behind. ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ which was released two weeks back has shocked with its collections. It was predicted that the documentary drama will make around 40-50 crores lifetime. Well, the movie has already made the collection of 45 crores at the domestic box office till now. Considering the fact that it is a docudrama, the movie is doing exceptionally well. ‘Hindi Medium’ and ‘Half Girlfriend’, which released on 19 May are also doing decent business, especially ‘Hindi Medium’. The movie came with limited screens and critics favourite Irrfan Khan in the lead. The movie had a slow start at the Box Office but ‘it finally picked the pace in the later weeks. It opened with 2.50 crores on the first day and everyone thought that the movie will be packed up in 20-25 crores, but it ran and crossed 53 crores till now. It is an awesome number for a film like ‘Hindi Medium’. On the other hand ‘Half Girlfriend’ that started big with 10 crores on its first day slowed down its pace and had pretty average run. It has collected around 58 crores till now, which is not a bad number actually. As the things are going on right now and considering the fact that ‘Raabta’, one more big film is about to release this week. The collection of these movies might slow down. We predict that ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ will stand with a strong 50-55 crores by next week and ‘Hindi Medium’ with 56-58 crores. We think that this is the last week of ‘Half Girlfriend’ in the theatres as it has the lowest per day average of Box Office and might wind up at 60-62 crores. Till now all the three movies are in the top 10 grosser of the year where ‘Half Girlfriend’ tops the list with 6^th position, ‘Hindi Medium’ at 7^th and ‘Sachin: The Billion Dreams at number 8.
