Chalk N Duster is based on the life of Teacher starring actors like Juhi Chawla, Shabana Azmi, Divya Dutta, although Shabana has played the character of teacher before also, but her Juhi has got the change first time, So with these actor, will film attract the audience towards it.
Story : This story is of two Mumbai teacher, one teaches Maths, Vidya Sawant (Shabana Azmi) and second teacher is Jyoti (Juhi Chawla). Both teaches in Kantabain High School, they have very good bonding with the students. But when School supervisor Kamini Gupta (Divya Dutta) is made Principal, then many twist and turns come in the story. Kamini then thought of earning profit, so she want to remove the old teacher and get new fresh teacher. Then Vidya and Jyoti fight for their self respect and go against management. After lots of twist and turns, film get over with happy climax, for this you have to see the film.
Script :
Script was written keeping in mind school teachers living and their work. Writer Rajeev Verma and Neetu Verma has taking care of small small thngs, like how marathi teacher's behaviour should be in tutions and in school. Climax part is interesting, but some fiction sequence could have been made, but many many scenes will make you think many things.
Acting :
If we talk about the acting then Shabana Azmi has done perfect acting in the character of Marathi teacher, wife and mother. On the other hand, Juhi Chawla is shown a grace of good work. Divya Dutta perfectly played the negative role. Her expressions were like a treat. While Girish Karnad, Samir Soni, the Upasna Singh and Zarina Wahab did tremendous work. Special cameo in the film, Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff has also done a good job in terms of character. Richa Chadha and Arya Babbar could have played the role much better. In their act there was lack of grip because it was difficult to relate to their characters.
Music :
Film 'Guru Brahma' was always coming on the time, but background score was more appreciated.
