Priyanka Chopra's Sikkimese Movie 'Pahuna's Trailer To Be Screened at Cannes

This year at Cannes Film Festival, the trailer of ‘Pahuna’ a regional movie produced and backed by actress-producer Priyanka Chopra's Sikkimese production will be screened. The news was confirmed by the movie’s director Paakhi A. Tyrewala who is the wife of director Abbas Tyrewala. The big gala will begin from May 17, and apart from Bollywood actresses Sonam Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, India will be represented on the platform by the team of ‘Pahuna’. This is a debut movie of the director Paakhi and is co-produced by the Sikkim government. The Project was started last year in March and Priyanka came on board as a producer in December last year. The Director shared that Priyanka Chopra met her during her visit to India and soon the film’s recce commenced and they started shooting for the movie. She added that Priyanka and her mother’s banner Purple Pebble Pictures has been extremely supportive. They have a clear vision and see the world from a director’s perspective which is hard to find in producers. About ‘Pahuna’, which means ‘Visitor’, the director says that it's a big story of a small area. It is a story about the love, strength, and courage of three Nepali children who get separated from their parents while fleeing the Maoist agitation from Nepal. The entire cast and few of the technicians of the movie are from Sikkim. This will be a first feature film of Sikkim. The movie will be released in Sikkim in October.
