Box Office Prediction Of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ And ‘Partition: 1947’

This Friday two new movies will arrive in the theatres ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and ‘Partition: 1947’. Both the movies are quite distinct from each other and have a different set of a target audience to cater. The movie ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ is the one which is more commercial and has a better pan-India appeal. The movie looks decent and funny with an interesting love angle. Considering that the promotions of the movie have been low-key the movie might get a moderate response at the theatres. ‘Partition: 1947’ is the Hindi version of English movie ‘Viceroy’s House’ the movie is about India and Pakistan partition, however, the look, feel and presentation of the movie is Western.  The movie has received good response from the screenings that have been held in India. It is very difficult to predict how the two movies are going to do, as one of them has known yet relatively new talent of Bollywood and other is a period drama that talks about the partition of India. And apart from it Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ which is running strong at theatres can hamper the growth of these movies. The movie ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ may open at Rs 2 – 3 Crore on Friday and ‘Partition: 1947’ at   Rs. 1 Crore.
