This Friday witnessed two big releases, one was Sridevi starrer ‘MOM’ and the other was Karthik Aryan and Paresh Rawal’s ‘Guest iin London’. After a disappointing show of Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ at the Box Office last month, the movie ‘MOM’ was expected to be the shining armour at the Box Office considering its strong star cast.
On the first day, the movie ‘MOM’ couldn’t fare as expected. Despite having the finest actors like Sridevi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Akshaye Khanna, and backed by good reviews from the critics, the movie received a mild opening.
The movie ‘Mom’ was released on 1350 screens across the country and on 456 screens abroad and its budget bifurcation goes like this Production -32.00 Cr, P & A-8.00 Cr and Landing Cost- 40.00 Cr.
As per the Box Office Collections, the movie witnessed only 25 percent occupancy on the morning show and managed to collect 2.90 crores on an opening day. What in our view has majorly hit the movie is the Hollywood’s awaited film ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ release on the same day.
But looking at the recent scenario the movie will certainly pick up the pace like ‘Hindi Medium’. The reviews of the movie are amazing and that may pull the crowd to the theatres during the weekend. The weekend collections of the movie will have a decent run.
The other big budget release of the day ‘Guest iin London’, opened to 10% occupancy only and also received negative reviews.
Sridevi is the most loved and hit actress of her time and still has a huge fan following, considering that also the footfall for the movie might increase over the weekend.
