Vidya Balan Reveals That She Was Offered The Remake Of ‘Sadma’ But She Said No
Vidya Balan is one of the actresses in Bollywood, who has done it all in her short career, she has won National Award, she has won Filmfare Award and more, she is all set for her next release ‘Tumhari Sulu’, which will hit the screens on 17th November 2017 and the promotions of the movie have started. Earlier, she was seen in the period film ‘Begum Jaan’, which didn’t work out at the Box Office but she was appreciated for her performance.
Recently, she was spotted at Jio MAMI Movie Mela, where she revealed that she was offered the remake of ‘Sadma’ but she said no. “I would not do any remake, I can’t make something, which has been made before and been a classic, I can’t. I feel no one should even touch a movie like ‘Sadma’, why would you do that, the movie is timeless and it should be that way”, she said.
Now, today making a remake of old movies is a trend, and it is working quite well for the Box Office. Recently, we saw the release of ‘Judwaa 2’, which is right now ruling the Box Office and as we know it is the remake of 1997 Salman Khan’s movie ‘Judwaa’.
‘Sadma’ is 1982 movie starring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the lead role and it was directed by Balu Mahendra, the story of that movie was awesome. It would have been interesting if this movie was made today, we get to see a modern take on this iconic story. Vidya was perfect for this film, but at the end of the day, it’s her call whether to do a movie or not.
Vidya will next be seen in ‘Tumhari Sulu’, which looks interesting, she will portray the role of an RJ. The teaser of the movie was released last month and it was impressive.
