Udta Punjab not banned, makers

Refuting on the reports which stated upcoming movie Udta Punjab to be banned on alleged-grounds of promoting drug abuse in Punjabi land, makers of the movie said that the film is not banned by the censor board. The film starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles will be released as scheduled, announced the officials of the production houses. Led by Ekta Kapoor, Phantom Films and Balaji Motion Pictures co-produce the film which is also noted for Kareena Kapoor Khan’s return after a long break from the Bollywood film industry after her marriage with Saif Ali Khan. According to a recent report, Udta Punjab failed to get through the censor board approval as the film is based on drug abuse in Punjab. Some other reports states the film to drug consumption. Further it also includes excessive swearing. Udta Punjab is directed by Abhishek Chaubey. Supporting the makers’ statement, Central Board of Film Certification has revealed that the film is not banned.
