"Swear Words For Women Will Not Be Accepted" Says Censor Board

Want an ‘U’ certificate for the movie? Want your movie to hold the viewership for all age groups? If yes, then make sure there is no profanity used for women in the movie and keep the movie refrain from terms commonly used while talking like Saali, Kutti or Kamini. Recently The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting instructed Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to get rid of all possible signs of verbal and physical violence against women in the films. We got to hear from a source at CBFC that not even a slap on a woman’s face will be allowed to be shown in a movie forget about beating her up. Even if the movie is based on domestic violence, all they can show is a swollen or black eye but not the process of how she got one. Recently the producers of Saket Chowdhary’s 'Hindi Medium' were told to remove the abuses hurled at women from different scenes in the movie if they wish to get a ‘U’ certificate. On this, the source at CBFC shared that 'Hindi Medium' is a message-oriented film which will be enjoyed by both parents and kids together. But the movie had some forbidden words used against women, which were asked to be removed to get a ‘U’ Certificate for the movie. It is heard that ‘Hindi Medium’ was asked to knock off  Kutiya, Haraamzaadi, and Saali. Let us wait and watch how other filmmakers would react to the zero tolerance towards verbal and physical abuse to women initiative by the censor board.
