Salman Khan all set to launch his own smartphone brand

Hello to all the `BHAI` lovers out there. Here`s something more to excite you once again! Salman Khan all set to launch his own brand of smartphones named after his charity `Being Smart`. He has reportedly been gathering investors for his smartphone venture in which he may either take a majority share directly or through his family. `Being Smart' will focus on smartphones aimed at the entry-level and mid-range market. Salman has reportedly already selected the Chinese plant which will manufacture the devices and has also picked smartphone models that will run on Android and cost below Rs 20,000. He is also in the process of building an operational management team to be headed by an executive with stints at Samsung and Micromax in leading positions. This is not the first time Bollywood's most bankable superstar has branched into other business ventures. He already owns the Being Human brand which produces trinkets, accessories, and garments and has various outlets in many cities. The smartphones are expected to be sold online initially with an offline retail presence planned soon after through a partnership with the large cellphone and electronic chains. It is very possible that the devices will also be sold through Being Human outlets. Salman had reportedly tried entering the smartphone game two years ago through a partnership with existing OEM's. However, the few brands who had expressed interest backed off due to the high royalty charges he was demanding. An executive told Economic Times "But this time, Salman is himself running the show and searching for an investor. He expects to launch the devices in the next two-quarters and definitely before the festive season''.
