Rape Revenge Stories Have Become The Favourite Genre For Bollywood This Year

No wonder as rapes have become so common in our country, that now the stories of the Bollywood are also weaved around the subject. So far this year we have already witnessed three movies revolving around the rape victim and now another movie on the same subject is about to release. All the three movies, ‘Kaabil’, ‘Maatr’ and ‘MOM’ were outlined around a rape victim and then his close one taking an avenge on the culprits. And now soon Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Bhoomi’ whose trailer was released yesterday again appears to be on the same lines. ‘Kaabil’ had Hrithik Roshan playing a blind man, who falls in love with a blind girl and then gets married, but soon their happy story is disturbed by two goon’s gang raping his wife who later commits suicide. The film got rave reviews and good money at the Box Office. Then came Raveena Tandon’s ‘Maatr’, where we saw a mother taking the matter into her hands when her daughter gets raped brutally which eventually leads to her death. The movie was good and hard hitting, however, the film couldn’t make much progression at the box office. Then again another mother seeking revenge movie came which was Sridevi’s Mom. Though the story of the movie and Sridevi’s acting was applauded, yet the movie tanked at the Box Office. Now the upcoming movie ‘Bhoomi’s trailer also shows a father taking on a bad guy who outrages his daughter’s modesty. Let us now see how this revenge drama fares at the Box Office.
