When a polling officer denies going for voting in that area to conduct the polling process, aka Newton (Rajkummar Rao) is appointed as a presiding officer to fulfil the job. Looking at the conditions not so favourable in the area he is provided with military support by a team lead by Atma Singh (Pankaj Tripathi). And the story then follows on showing the point of view of military, villagers and Newton. How everyone is right at their place still how they have trapped in situations no one has control on.

Review: It is a movie for you if you hold a taste of watching good and meaningful cinema. It is an amazing story backed with some stellar performances and it makes the movie worth every minute of yours. Not for a single moment, you can feel bored, distracted or drifted from the movie. You start watching it a keep glued to your seats till it is over.

The movie 'Newton' is indeed an honest attempt on telling a story that has never been told, without being preachy. The direction, screenplay, and cinematography all have been brilliantly done. The movie’s direction has been done with deep and thorough research and understanding of the story. Symbolic references have been made to show depict the various situations. Like in the Blackboard is shown always empty without anything written on it, which shows the poor state of education in that place.

The performances of all the actors, be it, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra or Raghubir Yadav all of them are polished actors and their stellar screen presence makes every shot worth watching. At places, Pankaj Tripathi has outshined Rajkummar Rao and he is definitely emerging as a most sought-after character artist. His past two movies ‘Gurgaon’ and ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ performances are clear examples of it.

The movie also has Anjali Patil who plays the role of the Booth Level Officer. Playing the role of a local, speaking Gondi language, Anjali manages to shine in a film which is full of talent.

Why To Watch The movie is brilliant in every way. It brings you to a situation that the people living in luxuries of City homes can never imagine of. It is funny, intense, and dark yet a feel-good movie. A must watch!
