Movie Review: Jab Harry Met Sejal - Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma

Plot: Jab Harry Met Sejal is the story of a tourist guide Harinder aka Harry who meets Sejal in Prague, they spend time together, discover things about themselves. Sejal is engaged but she lost her engagement ring in Prague, Harry helps her to find her ring, they face a lot of problems but ultimately fall in love.

REVIEW:- Jab Harry Met Sejal is just like every other Imtiaz Ali film, where the hero is on a quest of life than the heroine arrives and things changes for him. However, it is a little different; the male character is different than his previous films. It’s not Imtiaz's best film till date but still, it's good and worth watching. Over the years Imtiaz Ali has made the movie which either been a Blockbuster or been a Box Office disaster but his movies always manage to get the attention from the audience, his unique way of storytelling is the best thing for his films. He makes a character based films, and he is quite good at it.

The best actor of the movie is Anushka Sharma, it doesn’t feel that Anushka is not Gujarati, she just became that character for this role, this is her one of the best performances, certainly the best in quite some time, and with this movie, she has proved that she is a versatile actress. Shah Rukh Khan has done a fine job in this movie, he is not phenomenal, but he is good, and character certainly works for the film. Since a long time people wanted to see Shah Rukh Khan in Imtiaz Ali’s movie, and when the news came out, everyone got excited about it. There was a question on everyone’s mind, ‘will it work out’, and not to surprise it did work out quite well. Imtiaz just cannot do wrong with his content, he used Shah Rukh beautifully in the movie, in fact, he used everyone beautifully in the movie.

Shah Rukh Khan, in the movie, is a tour guide who is forced to accompany Anushka Sharma after she loses her engagement ring on a tour to, he doesn’t want to be with her as she is irritating and boring to him. Shah Rukh has amazing Hindi and Punjabi mixed language. However, the buildup of the story is quite slow, and it bores you a little bit, but it does take the pace and when it does, there is no stopping. There were speculations about the movie that it might be similar to ‘Jab We Met’ or something like that but no, it is different, it is more like 2009 film ‘Love Aaj Kal’. Anushka and Shah Rukh works very well on screen, we have seen them in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. However, this movie is their best, and it is arguable but considering the storyline and characters, this is their best film.

The music of the movie is not all that great, it’s decent and that’s what Imtiaz missed here, he is known for showing his stories with music and visuals but here music is not very good, it is OK, some songs are good but some are just horrible, there was no point of giving Diplo a song in this movie, it didn’t help, in fact, it hurt.

The characters in the movie have a depth and Imtiaz has shown that well, you will love Shah Rukh’s character after watching the movie. And again, Anushka has stolen everything here; she did a phenomenal job and made this movie an above average.

WHY TO WATCH:- Shah Rukh Khan, that’s enough for SRK fans to watch this movie, SRK is coming back in his romantic personality with this movie. This is not a typical rom-com film, it is different and SRK character is a lot different than what we have seen. Anushka has done a good job.
