Movie Review: Daddy - Arjun Rampal

Plot: The story of a movie is inspired by the real life story of Arun Gawil, Gangster from a local slum who turned into a Social Activist cum Politician. The movie sketches the real life incidents and developments of his life and how from the family man he turned into a criminal and then a politician.

Review: The movie 'Daddy' is yet another crime drama that is sure to appeal the people who love the genre. The movie tells a story of a man who hails from a working class family and then the circumstances arose and he had to shed his origins to become one of Mumbai’s most dreaded dons.

The movie has its elements of intrigue and interest, but it seems to be a never-ending saga after some time and that is where the screenplay of the movie fails drastically.

On the other note though the movie is said to be inspired or rather a biopic, however, it doesn’t showcase the ruthlessness of Gawil, instead, it has been tempered by his love for his family and his criminal activities balanced by his loyalty toward his friends. The moviemaker has bent the story accordingly by showing us the family man and fewer glimpses of the murderer and smuggler that he is.

The movie’s tagline ‘Daddy- The gangster who never ran from the police’ was one of the major reasons that people were expecting something unusual from the movie but at the end, the movie tells the same old crime drama. From the trailers, the movie did appear to be a hard-hitting and gritty drama but unfortunately, the narrative falls miserably to make it convincing and something to linger in minds.

The good thing about the movie is that the era the movie belongs to has been created very well and of course Arjun Rampal. Actors resemblance to Arun Gawil helps the movie a big deal and his acting skills look more mature and polished in the movie.

Why To Watch: We recommend you for the movie only if you are a die-hard fan of Arjun Rampal and Crime-Drama genre.  It is a one-time watch and is definitely one of Arjun’s finest work.
