When Amitabh Bachchan was born to the family the parents named him Inquilab, as during that time Inquilab Zindabad was a popular phrase used by the people seeking independence. But later on a suggestion of a fellow poet, the name was changed to Amitabh, which means ‘A light that never dies’. Amitabh till now has stood true to his name. The actor has an enigmatic persona, is a brilliant actor, has an amazing voice and is bestowed with best of everything. Amitabh Bachchan made his movie debut in 1969 as a voice narrator in a National Award winning movie ‘Bhuvan Shome’. And his acting debut movie was ‘Saat Hindustani’, which couldn’t do anything important to his career. But his next movie, ‘Anand’ went on to be an eminent one in his career, though he played a supporting role in the movie his portrayal of soft, simple and suave Doctor and friend of Anand garnered him much praise and his first award in the category of Supporting Role. Later on, the actor went on to do few more movie with remarkable success and then came to his movie ‘Zanjeer’ where he played inspector Vijay Khanna and with it, he became popular as the Bollywood’s shining star and Angry Young Man. The actor had a very successful career in Bollywood till the year 1984, it is then that he took a break from the movies and joined politics, but sooner he realized that Politics is not something of his interest so he decided to quit it. He again made a comeback with the movie like ‘Shahenshah’, ‘Jaadugar’, ‘Hum’ etc and again ruled the industry. In 1996, Amitabh ventured into producing movies; with setting up his production house ABCL Ltd. But the production company doomed. Then Amitabh attempted to revive his acting career with the movie like ‘Sooryavansham’, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and few more but the actor received mixed reviews. Then his movie ‘Mohabbatein’ came and it certainly helped the actor coming back in a big way, followed by ‘Baghban’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, ‘Aks’, ‘Aankhen’ and ‘Black’. The actor went to host a TV game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ which again aided to his stardom.
