Rajini's 2.0 postponed to next year

In a sad news for Rajinikanth's and Robot's fans, the releasing date of the sequel of Robot titled 2.0 has been postponed to new date in January, 2018. The film, which also stars Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar in the negative lead, will now release during the Republic Day weekend–25th January, 2018. In a tweet by Raju Mahalingam, Creative Head if Lyca Production–producer of 2.0–wrote: "Our ambitious project, Shankar's 2.0, shifts to 25Jan2018. It moves from earlier Diwali release to achieve world class standards in VFX." The tweet made it clear that postponement in the release date of the movie is done to achieve high standard VFX. After the benchmark set by Bahubali through its Hollywood-level VFX, revolutionised Indian cinema. It has tempted mega movie production houses to match or surpass the standards set by the movie, whose conclusion part – Baahubali 2 – is set to release this month. Coming back to 2.0, Rajini-starrer movie is set to break all records of Indian movies with a budget Rs 400 crore–breaking 200 crore budget of Baahubali 2–and are not willing take chances with the production of the movie. https://twitter.com/rajumahalingam/status/855434810499645441 The movie, which was previously scheduled to release during Diwali  this year, will release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi in India and worldwide.  AR Rahman, who also composed music for the first part and major blockbuster Enthiran (in Tamil) or Robot, has composed music for this biggest budget movie. Director Shankar included names like Amy Jackson, Sudhashu Pandey, Adil Hussain–along with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, obviously!–as the major cast of 2.0. Interestingly, the rescheduling of new release date meant it  cleared path for two major Bollywood movies releasing during Diwali, Amir Khan's Secret Superstar and Ajay Devgan's Golmaal Again.
