Pakistan lifts ban on television to show Indian films

The Lahore high court of Pakistan has allowed private channels to show Indian films but with the contract of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). According to a report, the court on Monday highlighted the 2002's ordinance in which it has allowed to show Indian films on Pakistani television channels. Justice Sayed Mansoor Ali Shah took this decision after Geo Communications and Other television channels challenge the ban on Indian content. The petitioners appealed that after the 2002 PAMERA ordinance with the permission of it Indian content like shows and films can be premiere at the channels. They appealed that channels should get the permission of showing Indian shows/dramas because it also comes in the entertainment's category. On the other hand, PAMERA denied the fact and said that want some time to give the explanations to not include Indian TV shows and Dramas in the category of entertainment. They said that channels have permission to show the Indian films in the guidelines of the license of channels. The court will hear the case on 2nd March 2017. Earlier the theater owners also lift the ban on Indian films on screening in the theaters. The reason was that the theaters were not earnings after the ban on Indian films. After all of this, now the Pakistani artists are hoping that soon the Indian motion pictures producers association will lift the ban from Pakistani artists in the Bollywood film industry.
