Story : Story of 'Parched' is based on the backdrop of Northwest region Kutch, Rani (Tannishtha Chatterjee), Lajjo (
Radhika Apte) used to stay in a near village. Rani's husband is dead due to the accident and lajjo's husband thinks that she is an Infertile woman. Rani gets his 14 years old son (Gulaab) married to a near by village girl 'Janki', but Gulaab dislikes Janki because of her small hair and because of friends interference. Whereas Bijili (Surveer
Chawla) is also playing an important role, who dance for the entertainment of villagers. Rani, Lajjo, and Bijini are friends and always share their pain whenever they meet. Twist come in the story when these three breaks conservatism and tries to live their life free, then many secrets also come out and then the story gets a result.
Script : Script of the film is like Sharp dagger, which attracts your mind in many issues, like Child marriage, Panchayati Raj, male domination and oppression of women.' The movie is filmed amazingly. The cinematography of the film is done by Titanic fame Cinematographer and Academy Award winner Russell Carpenter, his magic you can see in many scenes, even screen play is seen stretched and there are such characters in the story, which are not given their role properly, like Kishan character who runs very small industry. There are some intimate scenes in the film, but they are filmed differently. This is a demand of the story and is also not seen weird.
Acting : Every character of Parched is special, Tannishtha as Rani, Radhika as Rajjo and Bijili as Surveer, or a character who played Janki 'Leher Khan', all have played their role amazing. Adit Hussain has played a role of hidden lover, which give an interesting contribution to the film. Other actors work is amazing.
Weakness : Weakness of the film can be its issue, which is not the audience who see Hindi films, only way of Filming is changed, so this is the reason that only limited audience will go to the film.
Music : Film's music and back ground score are very interesting and which looks amazing with the film, for this Hitesh Sonik must be congratulated. Seeing the quality of the song, research work is clearly seen.
